Just lost 20mins of typing when added some more time to my account, so I will get to the important stuff first
Suzanne - thanks for your email, have checked Egypt air website and flight still going, its 2.30pm in the afternoon here on Saturday and we are all packed and ready to go to Kilomangaro airport for our flight to Nairobi.
I have been sick for the last 3 days and Don is now better, I am bgetting better.
Tanzanite - found the stone I want $US 1300 and would not settle for anything less - could not justify wearing it on my finger once made up so left it!!
Game drive:
Spent the last 3 days in the Serengetti and Ngorongoro crater WOW
First day was driving to the Serengetti - not for the faint hearted, although we were in 4WD our insides surew got knocked around. Saw heaps of Masaai doing what I believe they traditionally do, caring for their stock. Viggages looked ery traditional with the bushes surrounding them to keep stock in at night and predators out.
Because I was not feeling flash I gave my chicken to Don for lunch on the first day. We were sitting about 2 metgres apart. A Kite, which is similar to a hwk in NZ but bigger, swooped down ourt of nowhere, brushed both of us with its wing span and took Don's chicken. WOW
Did a game drive thru the Serengetti that evening until dark, amazing place, not too manny animals that night but the place is what I expected the Serengetti to look liuke but much bigger. That night we had an elephant and Buffalo munching away on grass and bush by our tenmt - a bit sscary but the noise they were making was very interesting and I just toook in the experience. Next morning we were gamedriving again at 6.15am. Got close to two Hippos fighting over a very small mud pool. Also got close to a herd of buffalo which ws amzing.
That afternon we traelled back to the crater - this is truly amzing to look down on. 600m deep and 20km across.
Next morning we were game driving again at 6.15am and saw heaps, got charged by a huge elephant when we got in the way of its path to water - a bit scary as he was huge with the biggest tusks I have ever seen and my side of the car was the first for him to go for. Also saw for lions stalk zebra, heaps of zebra, wildebeast, buffalo, hippos and hyena. Also saw flamingoes and a rhino. Karen, please let Vs know about Flamingoes

Good to hear that you are back into the excitement after your scare the other day.
Also pleased to hear about the flamingos - was that VS's dream as well as mine?
Hope you get over the bug completely and quickly adn that the move on to Egypt goes well.
Am going back into work tomorrow - crazy, eh?
Hello happy campers,
Nice to hear from you - sorry it's been a while since we posted a comment. We have Kingsley's folks staying and Don will be pleased to know we've got the home renovations on track again. We are building a big deck out front (not sure why it was prioritised over the back one...). it has Japanese style trellis out the front and looks pretty cool. A bit springy in places so the boys are investigating tomorrow. Bev and I have sewn net curtains for the entire house and you'll be pleased to know there is now a heavy drape for the back sliding door. Still jobs to do but we are confident of leaving the toilet for Don to complete (and commence) upon his return. We figured after 6 weeks without a toilet, he won't mind catching up that time by stripping and painting ours. Cool logic aye?
Hope you are feeling better. We are thinking of the fact that you'll be in Nairobi soon. Looking forward to the news that you'll be out soon. We have dropped off the last blog to your folks and since they were standing around in the drive, caught up for a quick chat. they are appreciative of your messages and are quite worried. They too are hoping you are having a fantastic time.
You pussied out on the tanzanite. I'd have squandered the money, as you know.
Are you going to pretend to keep in contact with anyone from the tour? Met any nice people or have you scared them all away?
Must dash, off for a swim tomorrow morning and then more home make-over stuff with the outlaws.
Might have to admit that I am starting to miss you. Drank a bottle of Riccadonna without you. Discovered, however, that it's best when you don't have to share. You get more.
Lots of love,
Michelle and Kingsley.
Hi Kim and Don
It has taken me soo long to be able to sort my shit out and figure out how to actually set up an account so I can post a comment. (Dont say a word!!)However we have been checking the blog regularly and are very pleased to know you are now safely out of kenya. Not much happening here, drove past your place the other day, just for practice. Sounds like you have seen some awesome sights - might even bring myself to view some of the photos! Do take care T&B
